As an attempt to acknowledge Christmas without being assailed by a pack of jackals of the ACLU, a Wiccan pentacle - ie, a symbol of witchcraft - was added to a nursery on the roof of Green Bay City Hall.
However, each of us have developed a tolerance for blasphemy politically correct. A vandal "removed the pentacle, which would look great on the cover of an album death metal, but which is obscene in the context of a nativity scene. The three-foot pentagram was found behind some bushes nearby.
Now the council will work to decide if they dare to leave the scene of the Nativity. Given their desire to see dirty, I guess they do not.
You do not realize that Christmas is the celebration of the solstice only, right? Yule (Winter Solstice) has been celebrated more than Christmas time. In fact, the whole reason Jesus' birth is celebrated at this time because church leaders at the beginning thought it would be easier to convert pagans if the date is close to pre-existing holiday.Almost all the Christmas traditions we follow today are Pagan holidays (Christmas trees, yule logs, exchanging gifts, the mistletoe, same colors). The pentacle is a sign of the devil, I suggest you actually do some research before you suggest something like that.
I've also done other research suggests that beliefs and history before making accusations unfounded and narrow-minded sectarian statements. Have you been offended if someone had put up a menorah next to the crib? Again, I suppose you would.
I agree, the pentacle is a sign of Satan, but it is used by those who follow. Listened to any good death metal lately? Thus, the author remarks are not totally off the mark.
As to why the Church chose this time of year to celebrate the birth of Jesus, why not ask them? I know that the Neo Pagan everything is fresh and a-historical and makes for good sales at the point of Hot Topic, but if you attack a belief, as you said yourself, do your homework....
