I am always surprised by the retail stores. When I am greeted at the door with some development mummy with red flashing eyes on, groaning, I head directly to the manager and then straight to the exit. I complained again and again when the stores put scary stuff in their entries. Why can not they put in the back? Parents who do not want to desensitize children to blood and guts can not even go to a supply store to buy a house paint pot at this time of year. I told you about my favorite trick-or-treat stop.It was the home of an elderly lady who fainted warm, just baked, men of gingerbread. Yep, she (her name was Mrs. ice) has spent his cookies Halloween night. And there was the house with the Out Front cauldron of boiling water peanuts. The lady dressed as a witch and brown bags filled with peanuts for trick-or-Treaters. We had a neighbor who made popcorn balls every year. And sometimes we were lucky in the caramel apples at a house, but they went quickly. Personally, I love it!I think it comes from childhood, Halloween seems to be as stress free all the holidays, one where we were at home baking pumpkin bread instead of on the road or sleeping on the floor of my grandparents parents (like Thanksgiving and Christmas). But I prefer the version of "Disney" of Halloween ... more "Hocus Pocus" Michael Myers. :) I do not like the way it is now. It all buy, buy, buy ... Gross, gross, gross. We get about 700 or 800 Trick or Treaters each year and the adorable and innocent, the meek are few and far between. It bothers me to see a toddler with fake blood all over her face.Give me the bees and bumblebees Dorothy and children dressed as black cats. And nothing in my house is decorated fear either. It's either funky or pumpkin-y ... Icky nothing here. BTW, there is a funny Halloween music on my blog right now you might enjoy. I really love Halloween, too. One of my favorite holiday. I am looking forward to it all year. I do not fear the stuff either. Fortunately, we live in a small town and scary stuff is kept almost out of sight. We have cute stuffed ghosts to hang on the porch.(and they are not "hooked" just Hung up:) We also carve Jack-O-Lanterns and scare crows stupid. The most scary thing that we are molds hand we made our own hands a year. I like to hear from you people who agree with me about fun Halloween night. I love myself for Halloween, but it does make me very sad to see a fun night of Trick or Treat now or bloody scary How can you get! I lived in a very small community, when I was a child and everyone knew each other, going door to door was just a fun way to be seen in costumn by neighbors and friends.For 5 years I lived in big cities, and honestly had no ZERO () trick or treaters and who was so sad! We decorated the house and was lite so everyone who wanted to come would be welcome, but we did not! This year, we came to a small community (I'm in Heaven) and one of the first things I ask my neighbors was, "Do we get many trick or treaters here? I was told we got Oodles of them and boy, I am ready ... bags of candy (Thinkin 'I should get more, do not want to miss)! I love Halloween. I agree with you, it has sadly become a macabre feast.What happened to all the character costumes cute?. Growing up my twin sister and I always had cute costumes. Some years we have purchased and other years we have made. We've always had a party for our friends orange soda and cupcakes. We too bobbed for apples or apples on a string. We still decorate the house inside and out with the pretty and cute items. It is also the anniversary of midnight (my cat that I rescued as a kitten wild) ... I'm not sure when he was born, but I got to the vet and she was able to determine its age, so I chose the most special day, Halloween, and appointed anniversary midnight.I did Best Birthday Present anyone can give a cat: the larger box from Macy's Gift Wrap had everything packed for Halloween ... empty course. My daughter went trick or treating for the first time last year, with her toddler son. My son was more adventurous and out of childhood with my aunt and her son. After its release, my dughter called me and told me she loved parties better.We used costumes fashioned from things we already had. We took pictures to share with distant relatives too. I love Halloween, and although I agree it is very different from how it used to be, my family and I maintain that Halloween can be fun, innocent and very rewarding. We do not ession nothing, and I am appalled, as most people are aware of when I see toddlers with fake blood and wearing the latest inappropriate get-up. When you focus on season, pumpkins ... glorious, beautiful pumpkin ... and old games like Bobbing for apples (last year, we welcomed some teenagers who have had a blast playing this ...they thought it was cool), Fun Food, music and costumes Spooky Halloween is once again a special time for your children .... and adults alike! I do not really like Halloween. I confess I enjoyed as a kid. It was fun and our block was a dark corner are your imagination could run wild. I came from a small town where our parents had to accompany us. We would go in groups. At school there were always wonderful crafts and lots of color photos of pumpkins and witches. My birthday is in October so it seemed like one party after another! I love the fall and really looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas. I do not hate or really love Halloween, but I do not want kids today could experience what I did. When I was a kid, I loved ... Halloween costumes and candy. My childhood Halloweens were fun, not scary. Definitely Casper-style! A friend of my mother always made our costumes. They were fabulous! Little Bo Peep, bigbird, Cinderella, and many others-all sewn specially for us.My mother would have parties and turn the whole room in a spider's web "for us to sort out, hang donuts in the family room for us to eat without hands, and make witches punch with dry ice . I agree that in most places (my neighborhood included) that trick-or-treating is not safer. It's a shame it takes a lot of fun and pleasure "Scary" out of the day. I grew up in a small town that was close enough to a big city, so I'm still considered a city girl.Although I loved Halloween when I was young, my favorite experience of Halloween, I will never forget is when I spent the holiday with a school friend at the farm of his family. We dressed in our costumes and walked towards probably less than 5 or 6 other farms on Halloween. Although I do love Halloween, I tend to decorate more for fall, with a few Halloween decorations cuts. In this way, my decor can last until I am ready to decorate for Christmas.
